The UK Autism Foundation has contacted Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg over Gary Mckinnon. UKAF and many other autism charities have been campaigning for Gary Mckinnon to be tried in the UK.
Writing for the Daily Mail's Affront to British Justice campaign last year, Nick Clegg said extraditing Gary Mckinnon would be a 'travesty of justice'.
He added: 'Despite what the U.S. authorities say, he is no cyber-terrorist. He is a computer whiz with a serious medical condition.'
UKAF has urged the Deputy Prime Minister to support Gary Mckinnon and to ensure that he faces a trial in Britain.
Last year Ivan Corea of UKAF joined forces with autism campaigner Kevin Healey of SAAS who has Asperger's Syndrome and wrote to President Barack Obama calling him to show compassion and allow Gary to be tried in the UK. This campaign was supported by several autism charities.
Home Secretary Theresa May has agreed to reconsider new medical evidence about Gary McKinnon's fragile mental state.
