At last we have movement on the Autism Clinic in Haiti. The monsoon has arrived in Haiti and the people of Haiti are being battered by the heavy rain -their tents are bearing the brunt of it. The hardest hit are the vulnerable, the disabled. A call went out at the London Service for Autism Sunday on 14th February 2010 when Reverend Paul Harcourt interviewed the Co-Founder of Autism Sunday, Ivan Corea - he urged Her Majesty's Government to help re-build the Autism Clinic in Haiti and reach out to the Autism Community in thecountry. The Autism Clinic in Los Palis was devastated by the recent earthquake.

The call to support the Autism Community in Haiti has cross party support. Treasury Minister Stephen Timms MP who attended the London Service for Autism Sunday, along with hundreds of people, raised the matter with his colleagues. The Shadow International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell has tabled questions in the House of Commons and has contacted DFID Secretary Douglas Alexander, so has the Liberal Democrat Shadow International Development Secretary Michael Moore MP.

This is a very important issue concerning the poorest sections of the Autism Community in Haiti. The Co-Founders of Autism Sunday, Ivan and Charika Corea have urged Douglas Alexander to spend a fraction of the promised UK Aid Package to Haiti to re-build the Autism Clinic in Los Palis and to help with a support structure for the poor.
