Michael Moore MP, the Liberal Democrat Shadow International Development Secretary has written to Ivan Corea, Co-Founder of Autism Sunday, now a huge worldwide event, regarding Haiti, and in particularthe effect of the recent earthquake on support services for those with autism and other disabilities..

The call to help the disabled in Haiti in particular the Autism Clinic in Los Palis was made by Ivan and Charika Corea, Co-Founders of Autism Sunday at the London Service for Autism Sunday held at All Saint's Church in Woodford Wells on the 14th of February this year. Hundreds attended the service including Treasury Minister Stephen Timms MP and Health Select Committee member Lee Scott MP. Ivan Corea urged Her Majesty's Government to use a fraction of the promised aid package to Haiti to re-build the Autism Clinic in Los Palis. The Clinic has been totally demolished by the recent earthquake. He spoke about the distressing scenes on British Television of the disabled lying helpless, starving and dying on the road with no help and support from any quarter.

The Shadow International Development Secretary said: 'I was concerned to hear about the lack of support available to hear about the lack of support available to those with disabilities following the earthquake, particularly since many of these vulnarable people have lost relatives and friends who cared for them.'

Michael Moore MP added: 'I have written to the Secretary of State for International Development, Douglas Alexander MP, to raise your concerns and highlight your request for assistance to rebuild the autism clinic in Haiti.'

The call by Ivan and Charika Corea made on Autism Sunday for HM Government to reach out to the Autism Community in Haiti now has cross party support - at the highest levels. Ivan Corea thanked Michael Moore MP for his concerns over  the Autism Community in Haiti and for contacting DFID Secretary Douglas Alexander on this serious matter. He urged Douglas Alexander MP to help the Autism Community in Haiti.
